George Bell Robertson, 76, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on November 1, 2023 surrounded by his children. Born on April 2, 1947, in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, George immigrated to America at the age of 15. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor who touched the lives of many.
George served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Company C, 2nd Antitank Bn, 2nd Marine Division, FMF Camp Lejeune NC. He bravely completed two tours in Vietnam. He received the Vietnam service medal adorned with two bronze stars and earned three Purple Hearts for his courageous service.
In his civilian life, George worked for Travelers Insurance and in the retail food industry. He was a dedicated member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union, Local 371, until his retirement.
George loved soccer and was a dedicated, inspiring coach for many years. He passionately supported his favorite soccer teams: the Scotland national football team, Raith Rovers F.C., and Glasgow Rangers. He also was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
He cherished spending time with family and friends, especially card games with his close friends in the clubhouse at Ridgepointe Woods.
George will be deeply missed by his surviving family members: brother Alex Robertson (Luz), sons Scott Robertson (Josie) and Michael Schiller (Kathy), daughters Sheri Rave-Indranathan (Mathi) and Lauren Hurst (Kendall), his grandchildren Shane and Cody Schiller, Julia and Ella Robertson, Zachary Rave-Indranathan, Kelis and Keanu Hurst, his uncle Billy Robertson (Anna), and many dear cousins in Scotland. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Donna Robertson, and his parents, Thomas and Margaret Robertson.
The family would like to thank the staff of the dialysis center at the West Palm VA along with the transportation staff, for their many years of special care.
A ceremony with military honors to celebrate George's life will be held on June 21, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449. George's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
