Gerald Philip Brezner was born on December 25, 1932 and died on May 16, 2025. Married to E. Beth Seligman for nearly 70 years, they lived in Boynton Beach, Florida. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and from New York University with an M.S. in Chemical Engineering. He worked as a professional engineer for New York State, including the Public Service Commission, the Department of Health, and the Department of Environmental Conservation. His most notable groundbreaking work was the development and successful defense of the New York State Water Quality Standards that still apply today. He is survived by three sons: Howard, Joel, and Kenneth and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
