Harold Sweet, recently from West Palm Beach, Florida, born in Chelsea, and formerly of Winthrop, Massachusetts, passed away a week before his 96th birthday on 6/28/2025. He was the youngest son of the late David and Lizzy Sweet and “kid brother” of the late Hyman and Louis Sweet.
Harold outlived by only four months his wife, Esta (Greenberg) Sweet, whom he cared for and adored for 72 years.
He leaves behind his loving children, Richard Sweet and wife, Alicia and Diane Sweet and partner, Carlos Castillo. His granddaughters, Adina Ashawini (Sweet Vickery) Maniscalco and Erika (Sweet) Nugiel meant the world to him. Erika and her husband, Max recently gave Grampa his best gift – great granddaughter Eve Maya Nugiel.
He also loved being uncle Harold and held warm places in his heart for each of his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Harold was a patient, protective, self-taught, self-reliant, careful, humble gentleman who could throw a good punch if necessary to protect his loved ones. He showed rather than told. He was a “shoe man,” and you could witness his characteristics whether he was selling shoes to all types of clientele or dancing in his fancy shoes with Esta, swinging a club on the golf course in his cleats, repairing the broken in his work boots, or reading, watching sports and doing sudoku in his slippers.
Finally, his eternal love for Esta was inspirational. That is how Harold will be remembered.
