Lee was born May 2, 1937 in Boston, MA and grew up in Newton, MA. He and Ida raised their family in Sudbury, MA and later lived and worked in the Virginia Beach, VA area before retiring to Palm Beach, FL.
Lee graduated Newton High School in 1955, Brandeis University in 1959, and received his MBA from Babson College in 1961. He then volunteered for the United Sates Air Force.
Lee was committed to his business and was instrumental in the modern packaging movement for food products that we take for granted today. Lee was truly a visionary and was instrumental as a key member of the committee of the Society of the Plastic Industry in creating and implementing the recycling symbols that are now seen on all plastic packaging throughout the world.
While raising his family, Lee was very involved in the community. He was a cofounder and officer of Congregation B’nai Torah of Sudbury, MA, and he was President of the Assabet Valley Youth Hockey Association.
Lee’s love of travel and golf led him to develop many business and life long personal relationships in Puerto Rico.
In Lee’s twilight years, far from slowing down, he was Chairman of the Citizens Association of Palm Beach. In addition, he was a committed board member of the Israel Cancer Association, Morse Life, Banyan Golf Club of Palm Beach and the Oasis Condominium Association. Lee was also an active member of the Palm Beach Crime Watch and the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. Lee’s love of the ocean and beach drove his commitment to the preservation of the coastal integrity in the Palm Beach area for today and generations to come. Appropriately, he was a passionate member of the Shore Protection Board of Palm Beach.
Lee is survived by his wife Ida of 56 years and his three children, Larry, Lisa and David. Lee was a proud loving grandfather to his five grandchildren, Jack, Kress, Max, Raquel and Zoe. He was a loving dedicated uncle to Joshua and Aaron Levy and great uncle to Nora, August, Max, Karolina, Mattias and Ingrid.
