Oberlander, Martin -- Martin Howard Oberlander, affectionately known as Mickey, passed away at age 66 on April 28, 2014 in Boca Raton, Florida. He admirably fought liver cancer the last few years with a toughness and determination that was indicative of his strong personality. Incredibly loyal to his friends and family, he was fortunate to have seen and/or heard from so many of them recently sharing good memories, love, and support...it kept his spirits up! Mickey was a big presence in the floral industry, furthering his parents retail business Harbell Florist (named for his dad Harry and mom Belle) in Brooklyn, NY starting in the 1970's, while also being elected to top corporate positions by his fellow florists as a member of Florist Transworld Delivery (FTD) thru the 1980's, at a time where FTD was a member-led organization. Mickey is survived by his wife of 45 years Rose, sons and daughters-in-law (Lewis and Alicia; Bryan and Andrea), grandchildren (Austin, Olivia, Samantha, & Hailey), "man's best friend" Licorice, countless relatives whom he adored, and friends who were truly family. Vincent, Diane, & Robert - your love & kindness are amazing! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jason Motte Foundation to Strike Out Cancer (jasonmottefoundation.org), or Tri County Animal Rescue (tricountyhumane.org), or Service Dogs of Florida (2012.servicedogsfl.org). Arrangements Entrusted to Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels, Delray Beach, FL. 561-496-7550.
