Marvin Ira Orenstein, son of Leah and Arthur Orenstein, died peacefully on June 25, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida. Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris (Mandel), and his second wife, Aileen (Shaftel Silverman).
He is survived by his children, Shelly (Michael) and Edward (Claire) Orenstein, and his stepchildren, Robin (Robert) Goldstein, Marjorie (Jay) Segal, and Joel (Creta) Silverman, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Born on July 21, 1929, in New York, Marvin graduated from Far Rockaway High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Oklahoma.
He served his country honorably during the Korean War as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed a successful career in marketing with the Celanese Corporation.
A passionate coach and lifelong athlete, Marvin brought energy and encouragement to everything he did. He believed in continual growth of mind and body: he was an early environmentalist and enjoyed tennis and sailing. Marvin taught himself to program and later in life tai chi. He was a diligent exerciser, rising at 5:00 am to work out and go for a run. He remained active and engaged well into retirement, serving as president of his homeowners’ association, captaining his tennis group, and teaching Tai Chi.
Marvin will be remembered for his devotion to his family, strength, honesty, humility, curiosity, and discipline. He lives on in the minds and bodies of his extended family.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. Donations may be made in Marvin’s memory to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, or a veteran’s organization of your choice.
