 Our only child Erika Ricci Markelson  committed suicide. JacKie and I went to Washington I spoke with our Florida senator Connie Mack and congressmen Clay Shaw.  We discovered that mental illness was an all our families. So, we founded AFSP.
 I passed the Chairmanship to Norman, my cousin.
 Together, with his wife Joan, Norman Expanded the organization into all 50  states.
In so doing Norman has saved thousands upon thousands of lives that would otherwise have been lost to suicide.
 We Jews  Believe that God put us on earth to make it a little better. 
Norman did that and then some.
