

Smut served during WWII in the Army Aircorp, followed by a career in the civil service at Perrin Field and Tinker AFB, until retiring in 1973. He remained active after retirement.
He was a Mason and a member of Park Avenue Church of Christ. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Carruth in 1950. Smut had 3 brothers and 2 sisters, all deceased.
He is survived by Mary, his devoted wife of 64 years, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families, including Sherry, LeaAnn, Tara, Leslee and many other loving family members and a host of friends.
The family will be at Bratcher Funeral Home for visitation Monday, June 29, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Basil McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.
Pallbearers will be Billy Martindale, Gerald Locke, Jim Russell, Andy Russell, Howard Rainwater and Phil Landrum.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Texoma Medical Center 8th floor for their dedicated care of Smut and Mary during his stay, as well as Grayson Home Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, if family and friends would like, the family suggests a donation to Grayson Home Hospice in Smuts memory.
