I went to high school with Howard but wasn't one of his close friends. In later years I started to attend Oak Ridge Baptist Church and so did he. He would run into old high school friends occasionally and he would always ask me if I remembered ole so and so. We had some good talks about these ole classmates and relived some of our younger days.

When my daughter Mari was three Howard and Doris were here for a visit. Howard was sitting in a recliner stretched out and comfortable. Mari crawled up in the chair and sat on his lap. Howard was so tender and loving toward her it touched my heart. A sweet, special memory I will never forget!!
