I worked with Jim and his wife Bev at Xerox for many years. Jim was a quiet,  kind, and smart man. I know he will be missed by all that knew him. Rest in peace Jim until we meet again.

Jim was the love of my life.  We were together for 10 years, married for 8, and each day that has passed I miss him more and more.  I miss his dry wicked sense of humor; his great ideas and projects; and that certain smile he had when he was planning something.  He was the smartest person I have ever met.  He was loved and admired by many people for his gentleness and kindness.  This world is a sadder place without him.

Jim Patterson is my brother.  I write in the present tense because the gift of imagination which he taught me is still with me, the belief that anything is possible is not forgotten, and the love which he showed me will always be in my heart.  When he passed the world may have lost a brilliant mind and a kind soul, but Janice and I lost a big brother like none other.  Rest In Peace Jim, I’ll see you on the other side.

I was so sad to hear of the untimely passing of my friend Jim. Jim and I were inseparable since our first meeting, when Jim was 14 and I was 13. We attended Simon Kenton High School together and rode the school bus everyday with another good friend, Dave Luzader. On that long ride to and from school we would plan our next project like the 700 foot long telephone line between our houses or the tree house in the Luzaders’ woods, with electric lights, insulated walls and a 15 foot rope ladder. Jim and I belonged to Boy Scout Troop 11 at Latonia Christian Church and got involved in lots of scout activities – we attended the Camp Friedlander (Peterloon) Camporee in Cincinnati twice. Jim’s dad, Bob Patterson was our scoutmaster and he taught us many important things for example, how to survive in the wilderness. My sympathy to Jim’s mom, Frances – I was able to speak to her a few days ago and express my condolences. I have fond memories of Jim’s brother Mark and sister Janice and my heart goes out to them too. I was lucky to know the Patterson family. Jim was my brother and he will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Since I spent so much time at Janice's house in high school, I have many fond memories of Jim.  I always thought it was remarkable that he could build his own motor scooter.
