

Visitation will be at Bratcher Funeral Home, Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Broughton and Rev Chuck Dodd officiating.
Jon was born Wednesday, August 13, 1941 to Ted Hugh and Marguerite (White) Bowling in Denison, TX. Jon served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Stroud on February 23, 1973. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved Colorado and hunting elk and enjoyed the great outdoors. Jon loved people, always helping his neighbors and friends. Jon always said “He was the neighborhood fixer.” He worked at Safeway, Brookside Division for 38 years. He had a good sense of humor, even up to the end.
Jon loved life. He was a compassionate, loving and caring person with a deep devotion to his wife, Mary, son Jon Mark, daughter-in-law Stacie, two precious granddaughters Abigail and Lila. For many years Jon taught a Sunday school class at Calvary Baptist Church. He loved taking the boys fishing and varmint hunting. He was known to lots of his friends as “Mountain Man.” He cherished getting together with friends and shooting his black powder guns.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Bowling.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Denison, TX; son Jon Mark & wife Stacie of Howe, TX; sister, Carroll McCarter of Denison, TX; sister-in-law, Esther Bowling of Denison; three grandchildren Abigail Lyn Bowling, Lila Nicole Bowling and Jon Matthew Bowling.
