She married Roy King on August 31, 1947 in Denison, TX. They moved to Dallas and both attended Southern Methodist University and resided there for a number of years. They adopted on child and later moved to West Texas. They then moved back to Denison where they adopted two more children.
Mary Lou's main focus in life was her family, the love of God, children, Christian and secular education and doing good for others. She was a faithful daughter and caregiver at her home for her Mother for 14 years after her father died, until her mother passed away in April of 1997.
She worked in Dallas for Tracy-Locke Advertising Company, engineering section of the Dallas public housing, and interior design in Big Spring, Texas. She attended night classes at college wherever she was. She put her goals on hold to help her family and others achieve theirs.
She was a tireless worker in the community, especially the school system to help children. She was devoted to her two granddaughters who affectionately called her "Maudi". One of her greatest joys was being able to take them on vacations and travel around the country.
She served three terms on the Denison School Board and was the first woman President, and served in that capacity for four years. She has been a popular substitute teacher for almost 25 years after she retired and was much in demand at the high school, working most days during the school year.
She was a wonderful mother, sister, friend, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bratcherfuneralhome.com for the King family.
