DENISON - Mozelle Mathis, 89, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, at Texoma Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at First Christian Church in Denison with Rev. Steve Chambers officiating.

Mozelle was born Sunday, November 25, 1923 in Gordonville, Texas, the daughter of Henry C. Cox and Eunice Lee Perkins. She worked for the Corps of Engineers. She married Vernon Mathis on October 13, 1944. She and her husband owned and operated Myles Variety Store and Spencer’s Furniture in Denison.

She is survived by husband Vernon of Denison and daughter Kathy Cooley and husband Tim of Bloomfield, Connecticut.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father W. J. Dinwiddie and daughter Donna.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charity of choice or First Christian Church of Denison.

Dearest Vernon, Kathy, and Tim,
I am so sorry to hear of Mozelle's passing. I have many fond memories of you and Mozelle through the years traveling to Montana and Oregon. I think of her and the joy her sun room brought her. No words can express the sadness for the passing of this remarkable lady a friend a mentor her and Vernon left a path in my life when I had no path to follow I am so sorry Vernon I know how much you loved her .
