

Family night will be held Sunday August 11th from 2-3PM at Bratcher funeral home located at 401 W. Woodard St. Denison, TX 75020. Services will be held 10:30AM Monday August 12th 2013 at Bratcher Funeral home. Burial to follow at Fairview cemetery also located in Denison, TX.
Mr. Pyrum was born on April 30th 1921. He received his Master’s Degree from Southeastern University in Durant, OK and went on to become an elementary school teacher in Denison and Wilson Oklahoma. He had a true passion for children, science and education. He was the first male elementary school teacher in Denison and became one of the most loved teachers in the district long after his retirement in 1984. Odell served as a deacon at Parkside Baptist Church, was a true Texas Rangers fan win or lose and a master carpenter. He married the love of his life Ms. Irene McGahey on his birthday in 1951, They were married 55 years until she passed away on October, 28th 2006.
Mr. Pyrum was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene Pyrum, Mother, Bertie Hutton, Father Virgil Pyrum, Brothers William “Bill” Pyrum, Herman Pyrum and Bud Pyrum and son-in-Law Gene Cessnun.
Mr. Pyrum is survived by his daughter Sheri Cessnun and grandson’s Ryan and Shane Cessnun. Additional family includes Jackson and Jenna Cessnun, Michelle Cessnun, Wanda Pyrum, Vicki Menza, and Phyllis Engles. Mr. Pyrum will always be remembered as a true angel who made everyone he touched a better person. Mr. Pyrum’s favorite pastime was baseball.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to House of Hope in Sherman, TX. In memory of Odell Pyrum. Mr. Pyrum spent his life passionate about this cause.
