

Sammy D. Garrett, 68, passed away suddenly at his home in Dallas, Texas on September 23, 2015. He was born on September 20, 1947, to Homer D. and Mabel Addine Riggs Garrett in Bridgeport, Texas. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1966 where he was an active band member and MYF at First Methodist Church. He attended and graduated from University of Texas in Austin in 1970. After graduation he lived and spent the first half of his adult life in Houston, Texas, before moving to Dallas where he lived until his death. His entire working career was spent in Business Management.
Sam was remembered by friends and family as a happy, gentle giant, great friend, fun loving and as a classmate everyone loved to be around. His parents, his partner, Harlan Nevin, brother, David Garrett, and nephew, Micheal Morin, preceded him in death.
He is survived by one brother, Robert Garrett and wife, Jo Linda of Pottsboro, Texas; one sister, Martha Gray of McKinney, Texas; nephews, Barry Garrett and wife, Alyssa, of Decatur, Texas; Monte Garrett and wife, Tricia, of Brownwood, Texas; and Scott Garrett of Palm Desert, California; and niece, Susan Cude and husband, Dalton, of Sherman, Texas. Great nephews, Joshua Davis, Wil and Jack Garrett, Giles Garrett, and great niece, Kassandra Davis and her daughter, Everlea, also survive him.
Cremation services are under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas. There will be no formal service, but you may sign the online register at http://www.bratcherfuneralhome.com. Any remembrances in Sam’s memory may be made to the favorite charity of the donor’s choice or to your local SPCA.
