Wanda Sue Wright Garner

Wanda was born in Armstrong, Oklahoma on July 23, 1932 to Edward & Liza (Davis) Wright. She was a nurse for over 27 years at Madonna Hospital, before becoming Memorial Hospital and finally Texoma Medical Center. Wanda married Leonard Hendrick Garner on December 8, 1951in Denison, Texas and was dedicated to him until his death in 2002. Wanda was a very loving person and devoted to her family, having two sons of her own. Wanda spent her time after she retired canning and cooking fresh fruits and vegetables from the garden that Leonard tended to; there was not a dish that Wanda could not make. She was a Baptist, attending Cartwright Baptist and Colbert Baptist Church. She loved to travel, to go to garage sales and she loved people, often spending hours on the phone visiting. Wanda never met a stranger and even though she was opinionated and often outspoken, she was loved by her family and the many friends that she made during her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; brothers Boyd Wright, Wheeler Wright, Eddie Wright, Freddie Wright; step-brothers, Dudley “Dutch” Johnson, George Wright, and step-sister Lois Robbins.

Wanda is survived by her two sons; Charles Garner & wife Renae of Cartwright, OK, Terry Garner & wife Patricia of Colbert, OK; two brothers, L.J. Wright of Lewisville, TX, Tommy Wright of Arthur City, TX; six grandchildren Jamie, Meagan, Misty, Melissa, Shawna, & Jason; nine great-grandchildren, Peyton, Maddie, Caden, Kennedy, Preston, Kylie, Jaden, Jaley & Nia; two sisters-in-law Becky Garner & Christina Ford; & numerous nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Roddy Arnold of the First Baptist Church of Colbert, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas 75090.

The family will welcome guests from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison.
