William Joseph Bock Sr. died on December 14, 2020 at the age of 89. His late parents were James Elmo Bock and Lake Frances Canafax. Bill was born in Denison, Texas, and attended school at the St. Xavier Academy in Denison.
Bill tried to join the Army at the age of fourteen to fight in World War II but was denied entry. Later, although still under-age but with his mother’s consent, he enlisted in the Army. He spent time at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and in post-war Japan. He was very proud of his service and of his paratrooper wings.
Bill met his future wife, Emma Lorraine Plain, prior to his discharge. Bill and Lorraine were married on June 3rd, 1949. Bill and Lorraine had six children- William Jr., Stephen, Rodger, Donna, Kathrine and Patricia. Stephen passed in 1970 but the other children and Lorraine survive Bill.
Siblings that survive Bill are his brother Jimmy Bock Jr, and his sisters Lake Frances and Mary. He was preceded in death by his sisters Delores and Jean.
During Bill and Lorraine’s 71 years of married life they worked together at the Bock Garage, beside their home in Denison. They also worked together in the trucking business and made many long-haul trucking trips over the years. In 2002, Bill graduated from the challenging Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Officer Academy, along with many much younger classmates, and worked at the Buster Cole facility for several years.
Throughout his life, Bill loved to play the guitar and sing with Lorraine. Together they provided many years of musical support to several congregations that they were members of. Bill has now joined a heavenly congregation that he can sing with for eternity. When Lorraine joins him, their heavenly duet will be complete.
Pallbearers are Matthew Roberts, Jack Roberts, John Dornstadter Jr., John Dornstadter III, Joseph Dornstadter, Major (promotable) Andrew Dornstadter, and Rick Fanning.
