

Alma Anema was born on the family farm in Prairie View, Kansas on December 3, 1915 and passed away in Grand Junction, Colorado on March 12, 2013. She was 97. Alma grew up on the family farm she was born at, and when she was 18 chose to teach in a small one room school house in Kansas. A few years later she moved to Denver, Colorado and met and married George C. Anema. She decided that she would settle down and raise her family, becoming a stay at home mother to raise her growing family.
Alma was very well known for many things including her strong faith, her volunteer work within her church and also in public schools, but she was best known for her beautiful flowers that she loved to raise. Her favorite was her roses. She was also best known for her cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls and almond cookies.
Alma is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Margaret Woltman VanKooten; brother Bruce VanKooten; sisters, Bernice Rus, Agnes Bernhardy, Olive Pauline; husband George C. Anema; son, Donald Anema; and great-granddaughter Marley. She is survived by her brother, Paul; children, Charles Edward (Carlita), David George (Harriet), Judith Lynn; daughter-in-law, Maureen; grandchildren, Rhonda, Chris, Scott, Kevin, Carla, John-Paul, Tony, Mike, Pamela, Justin, and Stacey, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren, and a whole loving staff at Aspen Ridge in Grand Junction.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 10AM with a visitation one hour prior to service at Olinger Hampden Mortuary in Denver, Colorado.
