It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Candido Tapia, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Denver, Colorado on October 6, 1945, Anthony was a proud sailor. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1966, earning his GED while enlisted. His service during those formative years laid the foundation for his lifetime of discipline, kindness, and dedication to others.
In 1960, Anthony met the love of his life, Dolores, through her sister Cecelia. Though Dolores was initially unsure, Anthony’s charm and genuine heart soon won her over. The couple married on August 12, 1967, at the Cathedral Basilica of The Immaculate Conception in Denver, embarking on a 57-year journey filled with love, devotion, and shared experiences.
Despite facing challenges in his younger years while not having a father around, he found strength and purpose when he met Dolores. His introduction to faith and community came when he began attending Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Chapel after their marriage, a step that deeply impacted his life.
Known to all who met him as a kind and genuine soul, Anthony lived a life of generosity. He went out of his way to help those in need, always leaving a lasting impression of warmth and goodwill. He began making more positive changes as he began work at the Salvation Army, but his passion for cars and driving led him to a fulfilling role with the Regional Transportation District (RTD). He found true joy behind the wheel, whether it was driving professionally or enjoying time on the open road with his beloved Cyclone or Jeep. Anthony’s love for adventure also extended to showing Collies, a hobby that brought him much joy.
However, above all else, Anthony cherished his family. His love for his wife Dolores, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immeasurable. He lived for the moments spent with them, creating memories that will forever be treasured.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Dolores; children, Cammy, Clifford (Tina), and Shane (Kim); grandchildren, Derek, Mariah, Elena, Alexandra, Adrian, Joshua, Guiseppe, Amelia, Andromeda, Arabella, Zeke and Miranda; and great-grandchildren, Aelianna, Mya, Alexander, Anastasia, Damon, Enzo, and Mavis. His legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in all of them.
A Rosary service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, at Olinger Hampden Mortuary. A committal service will follow at 12:30 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
Anthony’s life was one of service, love, and genuine kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in peace.
