I was very sorry to learn of Betty's passing. She and I go a way back to 1940, when we were in the same confirmation class at Bethany Lutheran Church. After we were both married, I met her husband, Lee, however did not met Clarence. Betty had 3 daughters, Sandy, Diane, and Laurie, and I had 3 sons, Bill, Craig, and Mark. All of these children went to school together, and became friends. Please know that I am thinking of all of you. She lived a long, and fulfilling life. Unfortunately I couldn't make the funeral and committal service, but they remain in my heart regardless.

My memory of Betty goes back nearly 80 years. Her folks and my aunt/uncle lived near one another in lower East Denver. All of us were part of "old" Bethany on 38th and Gilpin, before it relocated to Cherry Hills Village.

Betty is one of the last "links" to that congregation and has been an important part of today's Bethany for many years. I called on her often the year I was part of the staff with Pastor Deb and had the privilege of introducing Pastor Gary to her when he began his ministry. She did not always remember that I had called on her at the Masonic Home where she lived out her last years; but she always knew who I was and my history of with the congregation she loved so well.

She knew me too well, in one sense. She was the only person outside of my family who loved to call me "junior."
Technically, I am not a "Jr" but that was a family nickname....and I think when she used that name, it meant I was not only part of her history...but of her large family of friends who loved her dearly. May she rest peacefully in the arms of God.
