Carol J. Dater

Carol J. Dater, 88, died May 3, 2026. Born January 26, 1938, Carol was a longtime resident of Littleton, Colorado, and was remembered with deep respect for the steady, caring way she moved through life—simple in her needs, generous in her love, and kind in her spirit.

Over the years, Carol made her home in many places, including Sterling, Colorado; Wichita, Kansas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas; Spokane, Washington; Kansas City, Missouri; and Littleton, Colorado. Those who knew her across these chapters came to value her quiet constancy and the warmth she offered to family, friends, and neighbors alike.

Carol worked at Ramey Electric and ABE, INC, bringing diligence and reliability to her days. Her life was also marked by enduring devotion to family. Carol was married in Wichita, Kansas, on October 27, 1956, and she shared her life with her spouse, Celestine Dater.

Carol’s enjoyment of everyday pleasures was sincere and wholehearted. She loved sports of all kinds, with baseball and soccer holding a special place. She also loved birds, and she loved dogs most of all—finding comfort and companionship in their presence.

In three words, her life was summed up as: simple, loving, kind.

Carol is survived by her children, Terry Dater and wife Debbie, and Stephen Dater and wife Barb; grandchildren Jenny Bogue and husband Henry, Stephanie Price, Katy Dater, and Tyler Dater and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren Amanda Goodwin and Thomas Goodwin, Bailey Bogue, Cashton Brailsford; and Caden Brailsford; siblings Leonard Comstock and Michael Comstock; and others including nephews, nieces, and in-laws: Paul Clark; Joyce Mosley and husband Earl; David Dater; Beckie Dater and her children Randall, Thomas and Luanne; Patti Boyles and son Jake; Debbi Wright; John Dater; Chad Comstock and wife Nicole and their daughters Karaline and Kendall; Kori McCall and husband Jeff and their daughters Andie, Ruthie and Macie. Carol is further survived by friends Calvin and Anita Winright, Tammy Winright, Kathy Moore, and Andrea.

Carol is predeceased by her husband, Celestine Dater, sister Joann (Jody) Dorris; and sister-in-law Lucy Dater.

Pallbearers will be Terry Dater, Stephen Dater, Tyler Dater, Leonard Comstock, Earl Mosley, and Stephanie Price.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231, on May 22, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

A Committal Service will follow at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231, on May 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

A Reception will be held at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231, on May 22, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Carol’s final resting place will be at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 E Hampden Ave, Denver.
