Such joy was spread at the HOA by El Jefe! His nearly daily morning visits were the highlight of my residency under his reign as president. Saddened to find when he left his position that it seemed the only thing keeping me there. Saddened more deeply knowing he has left us for a higher position but grateful for having shared an equally wicked sense of humor with a true master of wit. My thanks to you both, Estella, for the generous kindness bestowed upon me during my brief residency there at the base of our stack! I shall continue to relish the time we had together. Clé

Moving to Denver from Washington, DC, I was attracted to this guy who lived on the same floor in my apartment building. Once we met, I was drawn to his uncanny sense of humor, love of the symphony, theatre, jazz, fine dining, and his daughters (Dena and Dana). I was happy, ultimately, to become a part of his life. Dean’s presence was robust and memorable. He was like a “man about town” and taught me so much about Denver. Dean liked to live large in life; together we became partners, with respect and love for each other. The spontaneous poetic notes he wrote me were clever and sweet. When he met my extensive family, he was hooked. And it was amazing how quickly he connected with my sons Rick and Erik! It became clear to me right away that to him “family” was very important. I was privileged to meet not only his daughter Dena, his mother Loretta – and eventually Tony and grandson Riley. Into the mix were Dean’s many close, long-time friends – among them Bob & Patricia, Bernie & Diane, Ron & Carmen, Phillip, and others. He loved to walk, as did I, and together we would take long, long walks along the Platte, singing our hearts out. We walked to Cherry Creek, to Downtown, LoDo, up Colfax. It was refreshing, invigorating, enlightening, and healing.
Dean was outspoken, sometimes to a fault; he didn’t mince words. But, if he liked and respected you, that was profound. We were life partners for just shy of 30 years. I will miss you, Dean, love you forever, and will never forget. Rest in peace now.  ~Estella

To just have one more call to tell you about what I’m up to. I will miss you Grampa, I will be forever grateful for everything you did to help make me the man I am today.  From the Volvo to keep me safe on my journeys, to investing in my education so I can succeed, to the snazzy jacket so I can look sharp, and all of the love, support, and encouragement to keep me going when it got rough. I will miss our adventures and outings, I’ll have to shelve the plans to deck out the wheelchair for Christmas. Thank you for being the best Grandfather I could ask for.

My dear friend & client for close to 50 years! I was his humble barber &  good friend! Always called me Dominic, (middle name)! Never was introduced cause he new me as a child from my beloved brother Hogan 3 years his passing today! Estelle, his beloved companion, thank you for taking care of my dear friend. I love you strength to you.

Our family tradition. 20 years at Denver Botanic Gardens Blossom of Lights. We started with Grampa pushing Riley in a stroller and stayed with it until Riley was old enough to return the favor.
