OBITUARY

Delos Orval Reeder

June 13, 1923October 19, 2018

Delos Orval Reeder, of Porter Place, passed away October 19, 2018.

Delos was born in Boulder, Colorado on June 13, 1923. He was married to Ollie Ruth Carter on July 26, 1973. Together, they shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Delos had a passion for helping others. He was very caring and loving; and had a generous heart. Delos was a volunteer and longtime member of Denver South Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was dedicated to the church. He spent many days volunteering there. He was focused on giving back to his community. Delos and Ollie have been members of the church for many years.

Delos was a very caring and giving soul. He was very mechanical; he could fix or change anything. "If man made it, you can take it apart and fix it", he always said. And that was the way he worked. He could be found in the garage, helping neighbors fix their equipment; lending tools and advice. He spent many nights in the garage building and crafting; or in the house, fixing motors and engines.

Delos once built a boat of wood. He took all of the plywood, sanded and formed it into a perfectly shaped boat. Later, he took a 1942 Dodge bus and turned it into a camping bus, so he could take his family traveling. Delos and his first wife Georgine would attach the boat to the back of the bus and take road trips in Colorado and other states. They saw most of the Western United States that way.

Delos loved to travel, especially road trips. He enjoyed driving, and if he was driving, you never knew where you would end up. He would always get distracted by the beautiful sights. As they grew older, Delos and Ruth took many road trips around the country and down the west coast. Delos and Ruth even drove down into Mexico to see the pyramids.

Delos was an enthusiast for trains and railroads. Whenever they took their trips, Delos would make sure to stop and see the railroads. He even built a model railroad display in his basement.

Delos served as a medic in the army during World War II. Later in life, he had a career as an electrician for Sunrize Electrical. There, he was able to put some of his passions to work.

Delos’ siblings were his brother; Marvin Reeder; his half-brother; Clerance Reeder, and his half-sister; Ada Pickett. He is survived by his wife; Ollie Ruth Reeder, his children; Dana Reeder, Terrance Reeder, Wayne Reeder, Robert Reeder, and Ruth’s children: Robert Carter, Henry Carter, Howard Carter, and Roy Carter. He will be missed dearly by his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Denver South Seventh Day Adventist Church.
