Delphine was born near Camden, Ohio on March 24, 1928 to Charles and Eva Swartz Pitsinger. They moved to Eaton, Ohio when she was one year old. She was the youngest of five children, with three brothers, Virgil, Kenny and Bernie, and one sister, Doris. Her father died when she was eight years old. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1946. She went through nurses training at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio with $300 that she saved. She graduated as an RN in 1949 and after working a year at the hospital, she and couple of friends decided to move to Denver, Colorado. Unfortunately, the friends decided not to go, but Delphine had already sent her trunk ahead, so she went to Denver by herself. She found a job at General Rose Hospital where she met Jack Meisner, a patient she prepared for surgery. After a short courtship, they were married on March 30, 1951. They had two sons, David and Charles. She stopped nursing for about thirteen years because she suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and other health problems, but after getting better, she returned to nursing and worked part-time for another twenty years. Jack and Delphine were divorced in 1975. A few years later, she met Wayne Pouppirt, who has two children, Wayne Jr. and Sherry Kay. Delphine and Wayne were married on November 26, 1978. She was a Charter Member of Valley Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and played the organ. She said she wanted everyone to know that she was very blessed to have two wonderful sons and beautiful grandchildren.
