

Don was born on March 28, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas. His family moved to Denver, Colorado while Don was still in his youth. Don grew up during the Great depression and started working at a very young age. Don graduated from South High School in Denver. As a teenager, he began his career in the grocery business with Miller Supermarkets, eventually becoming their District Manager. After Miller supermarkets closed, Don moved on to work in various Management positions for Safeway, retiring from the company in 1991.
Don’s first marriage gave him his son, Michael Ray Hubbert, who was the light of his life. “Mikey” was killed in an unfortunate accident when he was fifteen years old. Don never fully recovered from this terrible tragedy.
Don met and married the love of his life, Marguerite Chao, in 1971 and adopted her 2 year old daughter Yvonne, raising her as his own. Don was a kind, devoted, honest, hard working and loving man who would do anything for his family.
In his younger days, he boxed as an amateur for the “Golden Gloves” boxing club. Don enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. He also loved watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. Don also had a great love for animals and had many beloved pets during his life.
Don is preceded in death by his Mother, Alice M. Yollmar; his Father, Donald C. Hubbert and his son, Michael Ray Hubbert. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Hubbert; his daughter, Yvonne Dodds; son-in-law, Brandon Dodds; Granddaughters Dylan and Drew Dodds; his sister, Donna Downey and brother–in-law Rod Downey.
