Daughter of John Chapman and Phyllis “Chapman” Beaudreau; preceded in death by her husband, Vince; loving mother and grandmother to Nick and his wife Chelsea, Ryan and his daughter Analeigh, and Daniel; caring sister to Stephen and Claudia Chapman, Susan and Bill Synan, and Jay and Connie Chapman; supportive aunt to nieces and nephews; a friend to many.
Doris was a confidant built of care, compassion, resilience, strength, and wit. She treasured the relationships she held with family and friends near and far throughout the years. Helping families grow by providing care to their children, she was considered a bonus mom and grandma by many. She loved spending time in her gardens perfecting her green thumb, keeping tabs on the neighborhood through her window lookouts, catching quiet moments with herself and the wildlife around Fairmount, shouting out answers to Jeopardy followed up with a knack for solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles, and telling you how it is—“whether you like it or not”—with impeccable accuracy.
She took all that life could throw her way, the good and the bad, with no complaint and no quit. She stood strong and ready for the toughest challenges, even when they weren’t hers to overcome. Never backing down from her morals, she truly did know what was best and had a keen eye for character. Even though she was a bit short in stature, at every age she was “still bigger and stronger than you,” and if you kept pushing her, she would “send ya flyin’.”
No one will ever replace you, Mom. Your love for all of us kids goes unmatched. You changed our lives for the better and always made sure each one of us was all right before considering yourself. A truly selfless woman and mother—thank you for all that you did while you were here. Your physical presence and unmistakable tone will be greatly missed.
In respect to her final wish, she wanted everyone reading this to know:
“She was crazy!” — Doris Ann Mastin (D.A.M.)
A celebration of life for Doris will be held at Fairmount Cemetery’s Chapel in the Pines on July 11, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. All who loved her are welcome.
