Emmett Connor Brennan (fondly known as Butch), age 76, died on September 3, 2018. Emmett is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Buckley Brennan. He was born in Longmont, CO on June 6, 1942 to Virginia Rogene Brennan and Thomas Patrick Brennan. Raised in Cheyenne, WY, Emmett attended St. Mary's Catholic School and excelled in basketball and baseball.
After high school, Emmett attended and graduated from Regis University with a degree in English. Following graduating, Emmett was drafted into the US Army, and applied to and was accepted into Officer's Candidate School. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corp. After a brief stint in Virginia, Emmett was sent to Vietnam and served admirably earning several accommodations including the Bronze Star. After his discharge from the Army, Emmett returned to Denver. One of Emmett's friends from OCS had been seriously wounded in Vietnam and was sent to Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver to recuperate. It was at Fitzsimons, visiting his friend, that Emmett met his future bride, Susan, who was serving as a Dietitian in the Medical Service Corp of the US Army. After a fifteen month courtship, they were married in Boston, MA, in 1970.
During Emmett's career in real estate, he worked for various real estate companies before becoming a partner in his own firm. His outgoing personality lead to many friendships in the business as witnessed by many brokers he mentored. After retirement, Emmett found great joy in volunteering at Veteran's Medical Center in Denver where he was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
Emmett was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bird hunting with his friends and fly-fishing with Susan. Nothing gave him greater joy than playing golf and spending time with his friends and family. He was social, active, and a real people person, who had never met a stranger. Known for his sarcastic personality and friendly smile, Emmett could always make his family and friends laugh.
Emmett was preceded in death by his father Tom Brennan, his step father, Leon Keith, his mother, Virginia Keith, and his older sister, Sheila Hoefer (Rufus). Emmett is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Buckley Brennan, his sisters, Virginia Rogene Peak (Jim), of Laramie, Wyoming, and Patricia Edwards (Chuck), of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
