Born in Denver in 1944 to Ernest and Ruth (Talley) Jaenson, Evalyn grew up in south Denver alongside her brother Ernest (“Tom”) and sister Margaret. She spent her childhood in a close-knit neighborhood and later made a home in Washington Park, which became the family home for many years.
Throughout her life, Evalyn followed a path marked by faith, family, and change. She first married Roger Hahn, and together they welcomed a son, Mike. She later married Bill Hastings, with whom she had two daughters, Monique and Danielle; Bill later adopted Mike as his own. In her later years, Evalyn married Jim Adams, with whom she shared more than 25 years of companionship. Evalyn and Jim especially loved traveling together, often visiting places that connected them with their Christian faith and their desire to share God’s word.
In her final years, Evalyn lived with Alzheimer’s disease, a journey that she faced with courage and the support of her family and friends.
Evalyn is survived by her husband, Jim Adams; her daughters Monique Glassier (Tony) and Danielle Hastings (Tim Mallot); her grandsons Riley and Jake; her stepdaughters Hillary and Jocelyn; her brother Ernest (“Tom”) Jaenson and his wife Dea. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret, and her son Mike Hastings, who passed away in 2014.
Those who knew Evalyn will remember her devotion to God, her commitment to sharing her faith, and the many chapters of family she helped create throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Evalyn’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado or Dementia Together, organizations dedicated to supporting families and advancing care for those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
