Harry was born on September 11th, 1945 in Alamosa, CO. He was born to Moises and Placida Garcia.
The Garcia family moved from Alamosa to Pueblo, CO, where Harry graduated from Pueblo South High school in 1963. Harry excelled in band while in high school and his passion was playing drums.
Soon after graduating high school, Harry would make the move to Denver, CO. There he would meet Judy Giersch. They would marry on January 22nd, 1966. Harry and Judy would give birth to their first child, Sheryl Marie, on September 8th, 1966. Sheryl would only live for a short time before preceding them in death as just an infant. Harry and Judy would give birth to 2 more children; Joseph Michael and Donna Jeanette. Although Harry and Judy would divorce in 1994, they would continue to be a part of each other’s lives until his passing.
Harry would work hard to give his children all of the opportunities that he could. Harry embarked on a career in the insurance industry at a young age, and was an immediate success. He would achieve numerous sales awards throughout his career with John Hancock, Prudential, and Equifax over the years. He would forge numerous relationships while in this industry that we would cherish and hold dear to his heart until his passing.
When Harry wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends and family. Fishing was such a passion to him that he would be known to fish well into the early morning hours while everyone else were sound asleep. Harry also liked to make regular visits back to Pueblo to visit the rest of his family on a regular basis. He was proud of where he’d come from and loved to drive all over the city telling stories from his youth.
Among Harry’s other interests, he became fond of singing karaoke. He was known to sing a few nights a week early on in his retirement. Here he formed many more friendships that he would also hold dear to his heart.
Later in life, Harry would make the decision to commit his life to Jesus Christ. He would become born again and would be baptized. He would attend Cornerstone Denver Church for the rest of his life. This is where he would find his extended family. Harry loved to stay active in his church. In addition to attending service every Sunday and hosting bible studies at his home on Wednesday nights, Harry would regularly volunteer to spread the gospel wherever he went. The relationships that he would form in his Church would stay near and dear to his heart forever.
Harry was always the life of the party and made friends wherever he went. You were never a stranger to him once he met you. He would never hesitate to have you over for a bite to eat and a visit. Harry will be forever missed by all that knew him, but he will never be forgotten.
