Testimony of Ila Wright - "To Me To Live is Christ."
"I find this Bible verse very comforting, as well, "And we know that all things work together for good for them that love God and are called according to His purpose: (Romans 8:28)
"Reminiscing over my life, there were many good and happy times, and some very hard times. The first was the tragic death of my father when I was 5 years old.
My Christian mother worked very hard to give my brother, Paul and me a happy, normal childhood. Times were very hard, the first World War was followed by the big depression.
I took Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 13, influenced by my best friend whose father was a Baptist minister. I was baptized again at Berkeley Baptist Church in 1939 along with my husband Max, my mother Mary Elsie Newell, my brother Paul Newell and his wife Elaine. I've been a member of Berkeley Baptist Church for over 63 years.
My most difficult time was when Max was called home after 71 years of marriage.
My communion with God and His leading brought me through, and now my life is peaceful. He is my daily companion. I talk to Him every night, telling Him my needs, problems, and feelings. I ask for His guidance and healing, remembering my family and friends.
I attended Church nearly every Sunday, seldom missing. I get a blessing from the Pastor's message, the beautiful hymns, and fellowship with devoted friends.
I cherish a plaque once given to me by the Victory Sunday School Class. It says "Only one life, will soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last."
"To Me To Live is Christ." - Testimony by Ila Wright.
