

Janet was born in Omaha, Nebraska on October 10, 1954, to Ruben and Bernice Whitlow. She attended Tech High School. During this time, she met and later married Randolph Scott, the father of her three children.
In 1975, they moved to Denver, Colorado. Janet was highly creative. She had a talent for fashion and writing. To further pursue her passion, she attended a technical school dedicated to fashion and creative arts. Janet learned to design clothing that would be featured in numerous fashion shows. She was also a talented song writer. Two of the songs she wrote were recorded.
In the early 90’s, Janet met Norvelle White. They dated for several years and later married. Norvelle preceded Janet in death by 5 days. They loved each other very much and were together more than 30 years.
Janet had a successful career at Keebler Cookie Factory. She remained there until the Colorado location closed. Shortly after, she went on to have a 25-year career in Financial Account Management. Janet enjoyed her work and often spoke fondly of the wonderful people who she considered her work family.
For Janet, family was always first. She did not need to travel the world because family was the center of her joy.
Every Sunday her door was open for friends and family to stop by, visit, socialize, and enjoy a home cooked meal. These are moments that truly brought her happiness. She was loving, kind and nurturing to everyone.
Janet enjoyed writing, gardening with her son Randy, cooking, and football (The Denver Broncos). Her highlight was playing dominos and cards in a home filled with the laughter and love of family.
Janet is survived by her three Children: Felisha Culver, Kisha Scott, Randy Scott. Five Grandchildren: Ilasiea Gray, Delriece Taylor, Tepra Smoot, Christopher Smoot, Azalea Scott-Rowe, and Akelah Scott. One Great Granddaughter: Arsynniah Solsbery. Two Sisters: Beverly Bentley and Sheryl Albright. Five Stepsons: Damion, BJ, Norman, Thomas, and Noah White. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Janet had three siblings who preceded her in death: twin sister, Jeniece Sledge, sister Sandra Whitlow and a brother Larry Whitlow.
A reception for Janet will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
