Jason Vincent Metsala was born in Denver, Colorado on December 31st, 1996, and passed away at home in Aurora, Colorado on October 1st, 2025. He was the beloved son of Anne Metsala and Michael Shaw, the devoted father of Parker Metsala, and a cherished brother to Amanda Metsala, Spencer Metsala, Caroline Metsala, Elliana Metsala, Louie Sherman, Finn Sherman, and Raif Sherman, including Josh and Holly Freeman. He was an outstanding uncle to his nephew Omari Metsala Young, and nieces, Alexis, Avayah, and Giada Whitaker.
Jason's impact on the world was nothing short of extraordinary. When you think of Jason, you think of three things: his goofy grin, his infectious laughter, and his uncanny ability to fall asleep anywhere. Since we were young, Jason had a special gift for lighting up a room with his carefree spirit and playful nature. He was always punking someone. You could be in the grumpiest mood, and he'd come around the corner with his mischievous smile, and before you know it, you're both in a fit of laughter.
He was fiercely loyal and, at times, overprotective (in the best way). His unwavering loyalty and protectiveness inspired trust and confidence in those around him. He made sure that no matter the challenge or distance, you could reach out to him, night or day, to talk, cry, or sit in silence. He had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand. You knew that no matter what he'd be there for you.
The birth of his daughter Parker brought out an even more remarkable side of Jason, as his heart swelled with pride and devotion, his boundless energy and unwavering commitment to providing for her were a testament to his unshakeable love. His walls softened a bit, his smile grew bigger, and the light in his eyes was brighter than ever. Jason was also known for his love of the great outdoors. From fishing, to camping, or just hiking with friends and family. Jason will forever be remembered as our mountain man.
Jason's legacy will live on through his inspiring humor, loyalty, and protectiveness. His fearless heart will continue to inspire us to love without bounds. We will honor his memory by embracing the importance of slowing down and sharing a smile with someone in need.
A visitation will be held at Risen Christ Catholic Parish, located at 3060 S Monaco St Pkwy, Denver, CO 80222, on October 17, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The Funeral Mass will follow at10:00 am.
