It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jody Karen Lehnert, who left us on July 9, 2026, at the age of 64. A beloved sister, cherished friend, and remarkably accomplished professional, she will be deeply missed.
After graduating from Michigan State in the early 1980s, Jody traded Michigan for Colorado and never looked back. She passionately embraced the Colorado way of life, finding joy in everything from lively local scenes to quiet mountain trails.
Jody built a distinguished career in executive talent acquisition, placing leaders at the forefront of science and technology. To her, recruiting was an art form driven by intellectual curiosity and cultivating relationships.
Beyond her sharp mind, Jody will be remembered for her quick wit, warmth, and altruistic spirit. With a selfless heart, she lifted up those she loved, always making others feel seen and valued. She leaves a legacy of deep connection, reminding us to never stop learning and never stop loving.
She leaves behind her beloved Golden Retrievers, Duke and Max; her brother, Carey Mitchelson; and her sisters, Sandy Purdue, Linda Kennedy (Jim), Eileen Simms (John), and Patricia Mitchelson (John). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kyran and Mary Mitchelson, and her sister, Francine Mitchelson.
Because Jody touched so many lives in different ways, we ask that you celebrate her however you best remember her. In honor of Jody’s lifelong love for Golden Retrievers and the annual Goldens in Golden celebration, memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies.
