

Joe was born in Losauces, CO on April 17, 1927, the oldest of 15 children. Raised by his grandparents in Taos, NM and attended Menaul High School in Albuquerque. After he graduated Joe joined the Air Force and was stationed in Guam, Germany, and Japan. After leaving the Air Force Joe worked as an administrator for Martin Marietta, Duboc Lane, Manual High School and finished his career at Emily Griffith Opportunity School.
Joe married Yolanda Jaramillo on December 10, 1950 and they were blessed with four children. Gail (Laurson), Kenny, Ronnie (deceased), and Josie (Shigeno), eight grandchildren: Andrea ,Eric and Derek Laurson, Zachary and Kendra Montoya, Kelli, Kimberly and Kendall Shigeno and five great grandchildren: Brianna, Piper, Brodie, Ethan and Cooper.
Joe was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. It was often said that Joe never knew a stranger, and would befriend and help anyone he met who needed him. He would always take under his care anyone who needed a friend, a meal, someone to talk to or a helping hand. He always had time for those who needed him and lived his life as Jesus said in Matthew 22:38 “You must love your neighbor as yourself”.
Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, however our pain will be mitigated by the many loving memories that we all share.
A memorial service will take place at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2300 S. Patton Court in Denver on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Reception immediately following at the VFW Post #9644 2680 W. Hampden Avenue
Denver, CO 80110 He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Olinger Hampden Cemetery in Denver at a private service.
