Karin Dayas Jones, 82, of Denver passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in her home. Born November 27, 1929, to Elmer Jones and Esther (Jarrell) Jones in Madison, West Virginia, she was the second born having an older brother, Joseph, and a younger brother, David. Karin and her brothers stayed close all their lives. She was heartbroken when her younger brother David passed away suddenly in 1999. To the day of her passing she spoke regularly on the phone with Joe.
Karin never met a stranger. Her life lesson was that fun was everywhere, you just had to be friendly and smile. She giggled a lot and could always find something funny even with the slightest thing. She enjoyed her friends, sharing pictures of her family, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and music and dancing.
Karin volunteered in the office at Cathedral Plaza Apts where she lived. She also was in charge of sending the "secret" birthday cards to all the residents. She would spend hours addressing the cards monthly and liked doing something that she thought would raise the spirits of others.
Karin and her first husband, Archie Clarence Mangum, Jr., had 4 children, Michael Bruce Mangum (deceased), Eleanor Leigh Mangum VanAusdall, Donald Keith Mangum, and Julie Lynn Mangum. Karin and her second husband, Charlie Herman Puckett, had one child, Christina Leigh Puckett. Karin had 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was the thread that kept the kids and grandkids in touch. She stayed busy sending letters and pictures of one to the other. Karin loved being grandma and was especially proud of all her grandkids.
Karin's midnight talks with her children and her light giggle will be deeply missed. A memorial celebration will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 1555 Grant St., on Saturday, May 5th, at 1pm.
