Katharina “ Katie “ Lehr Martinez entered this world as a gift from heaven given to Emilie and Michael Lehr of Prosara, Yugoslavia, on December 11, 1929. She had two sisters, Maria and Christine, who were anxiously awaiting her arrival.
After enduring the hardships of WWII, including bombings and family separations, Katie reunited with her family in Linz, Austria. She then met her future husband, Feliciano “ Felix” Martinez, a young American soldier stationed in Salzburg. Following numerous bureaucratic impediments, Katie and Felix married on June 11, 1955.
After leaving Europe, Katie and Felix were stationed at Ft. Ord in Monterey California, where they raised their four boys, Floyd, Elmer, Pete, and Leo.
In 1964, the family moved to Arvada, Colorado, where Katie and Felix have lived in the same house for 52 years.
Katie was preceded in death by her beloved son Leo, her sister Maria, and her parents Emilie and Michael.
Katie is survived by her husband Felix, her sons Floyd, Elmer and Pete, her daughters-in-law Janet and Dee, her four grandchildren Tonia, April, Eric and Aaron, her four great-grandchildren Ella, Nathan, Leo and Charlotte, her sister Christine, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Mom, the void created by your leaving will be filled with all of our loving memories. We miss you. Until we meet again…
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Saint Andrews Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Moore Howard Chapel, Denver, CO.
