

Lt. Larry L. Varney, 77, of Denver passed away on July 7th at his home in Denver. Larry was born in Ansley, Nebraska to George and Kathleen Varney on July 27, 1939. He spent 28 years with the Denver Fire Department and retired as a Lieutenant. Larry was a faithful, selfless individual who showed great integrity and love. He was always welcoming and humble. Larry was a car enthusiast, loved Hawaii, his cabin in Grand Lake, boating, fishing, golfing, and most importantly, his family. His family meant everything to him. They include his wife, who he loved so much he couldn't be without, Donna; his beloved children, Julie and Scott Heiss, Kent and Kelli Varney, David and Valerie Varney; his adored grandchildren, Torry Heiss (Tyler Yowell), Kristy Heiss (Scott Rolloff), Morgan Varney (Raymond Paolini), Lexie Varney (Ian Forbes-Harlan), Jordan Varney and Sarah Varney. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at 10am at Church of The Risen Christ in Denver. Larry will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 12th at 12PM, Committal Pavilion A. The family will host a reception at Holy Name Catholic Church following the burial.
