Lenora H. Hofmann was born in 1925 to Richard and Henrietta (Nuss) Griess in Stockham, NE. She was united in marriage to Lester L. Hofmann at her parent’s home. They moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1949. She was employed as a school lunch manager for many years. She loved to cook and bake as well as garden. She made the world’s best cherry coffee cake. She and Lester enjoyed attending local baseball games and, later, watching the Colorado Rockies on television. She loved listening to country music. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Lester, solving cross-word and jigsaw puzzles as well as playing a variety of card games. After they re-tired they also enjoyed spending time as “snow birds” in Yuma, AZ.
She is survived by her children, Judith Burchfield (Bob) of Denver, CO and Thomas Hofmann (Shelley) of Escondido, CA; grandchildren Meghan MacLean (Rose), Lara Burchfield (Will Draper), Joshua Burchfield (Torie), Jennifer O’Brien (Josh), Kevin Hofmann (Caroline); and great grandchildren Saylor, Deacon and Cassian MacLean, Emmett Draper, Augustus Burchfield, Andrew and Weston Hofmann and Jaxen O’Brien. Her younger sister, Minetta Coover (Bob) of Scottsbluff and several nieces and nephews also survive Lenora.
Lenora passed away on August 2, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Denver, CO at the age of 97 years. She lived her life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family and friends. Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers and 2 sisters as well as her beloved husband, Lester.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver, CO. Her church life and her faith were her sup-port, especially in her later years.
