Lodee Cunningham, 84, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. She was surrounded by her family when she breathed her last breath. Lodee was born July 22,1936 in Monroeville, Alabama to the late Thomas and Lodee Clausell.
She was employed by AAFES (Army & Air Force Exchange Service) for over 20 years eventually becoming a supervisor. During her time in AAFES she worked in many locations at Fort Carson and the Air Force Academy. She retired from AAFES in 1994. Lodee resided in Colorado Springs for 44 years and then moved to Denver in 2013 to be near her children.
Lodee was an avid bowler for many years. She loved reading novels and magazines and she was an incredible cook/baker....she made the world's best peach cobbler! She was a very social person. She loved being around and talking to people. Lodee was also a great storyteller and shared her stories with anyone who would listen.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Alex; four children: Gerald Cunningham, Van Cunningham, Anita (Andre') Pearson and Rosa (Ken Walker) Cunningham; seven grandchildren: Tyler Cunningham, Alex Cunningham, Taylor Cunningham, Sophie Cunningham, Seiva Cunningham, Austin Pearson and Amani Pearson; brother, George (Elizabeth) Clausell; four sisters: Pearline Andrews, Caldonia Drummond, Esther Miles and Sylvia Hands as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date when covid restrictions are relaxed.
