Lois Elaine Pepper, a cherished and devoted individual known for her humorous and faithful nature, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 92. Lois was a resident of Melissa, Texas for several years, but her life began in Denver, Colorado, where she was born on July 4, 1933, to Charles and Veneita Westblade.
Lois grew up on Race Street in Denver and attended local schools, including Washington Park Grade School, Byers Junior High School, and South High School, graduating in 1951. She was a dedicated worker, contributing to Crane and Westblade in Denver and serving in the kitchens of several Denver Public Schools, including George Washington High School, Smiley Junior High, and Montclair Elementary. In 1975, she paused her career following the passing of her beloved husband, Ralph Madison Pepper, whom she married in 1952. Lois later worked at GTE for two and a half years and Honeywell for four and a half years before retiring in 1999.
Lois's family was central to her life. She was a loving sister to Carolyn Johnson and Maynard Westblade and a devoted mother to Debbie Anne Winkel, Melody Lynn Landers, Dale Alan Pepper, and Marilyn Joy Stoflet. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Lois had a lifelong passion for music, particularly the piano, which she began playing at the age of seven. She shared her musical talents at Galilee Baptist Church alongside her mother and later at Windsor Gardens Chapel and Heather Gardens Chapel from 1978 to 2022. Her commitment to Christian Ministry was profound, and she played the piano for numerous weddings and funerals, honoring the Lord with her music.
In 1944, at the age of 11, Lois accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church on 32nd and Humbolt by Dr. Gravitt. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she often expressed her gratitude and encouragement to family and friends to walk with the Lord, put God first, and listen to Jesus.
Lois was known for her witty expressions, including favorites such as "it's better to be single than wish you were," "Okey-Dokey Smokey," "Well that's a cheerful ear full," "See you later Alligator," and "I get my mix all packed up."
A Memorial Service will be held on October 25, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Graveside Service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, both at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231.
Lois Elaine Pepper's life was a testament to her faith, love, and dedication to her family and community. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
