

Lowell “Tom” Earnest was born September 23rd, 1932 and died February 12th, 2019. Lowell was born to Pearl Shawhan and John Earnest in Lumberport, West Virginia. Lowell is preceded in death by his mother, Pearl, Father, John, seven of his siblings, his daughter, Linda Marcum, and wife, Bertha Mae Earnest. Lowell is survived by two children; Terresa Propes and Lowell Earnest II; and his brother, Carl Richard Earnest. Lowell had five grandchildren; Angela Blakley, Nick Propes, Joseph Marcum, Alyson Propes, and Nathaniel Marcum. Lowell was blessed to have 10 great grandchildren.
Lowell grew up in West Virginia. Lowell joined the U.S. Army and became a combat engineer in the 54th Engineer Battalion. After his service in the Army, Lowell joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming where he met his wife Bertha. Bertha and Lowell moved to Colorado and started a propane business, Comet Gas, in 1964. Lowell served the Colorado residents and the community of Aurora through Comet Gas until the company closed in 2018. Lowell was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Shriners, and a lifetime member of VFW Post #3631. Lowell enjoyed playing bowling, billiards, horseshoes, and crazy eights with his grandchildren. Lowell was a lover of animals, he had numerous dogs, and his most prized Macaw, Oscar.
