Margaret Elaine Copeland

Margaret Elaine Copeland passed away on May 18, 2016 at her home in Lakewood, Colorado. She was 97 years old. Elaine was born in Harlam, Iowa on August 1, 1918 to H.K. and Frances McDowell. She met and married Eldon Earl Copeland and was blessed with 2 children. Elaine was described by her family as being an awesome mother and grandmother. She was loving and caring and protected her whole family. Eldon and Elaine owned a farm out on the Eastern Planes of Colorado. John remembers his mother cooking for all the farm hands. She made excellent fried chicken and homemade dinner rolls. After a time Elaine and Eldon moved to Canon City, Colorado. There they owned a grocery store. She was a hard worker and dedicated to her small grocery store. When Eldon was getting ready to retire they moved to the Denver area to begin the rest of their lives. Eldon preceded her in death in January of 2006.

Elaine is survived by her 2 children, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 12 great, great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who called her mother, grandmother and friend.

Friends and family are encouraged to join us on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 1pm at Olinger Hampden Mortuary in Denver for Elaine's funeral service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Olinger Hampden Memorial Gardens immediately following the services in the chapel. A reception will be provided following the service in the cemetery.
