

Mavis May Kajfosz, age 82, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, due to natural causes. Born on May 31, 1942, in Kadoka, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Glenn and Marjorie McDonald and grew up alongside her siblings: Lavina, Margaret, Neil, and Richard.
On May 11, 1968, Mavis married the love of her life, Donald Kajfosz. Together, they built a warm and loving home, raising two children: Bryon (Chris Barmwater) and Roberta (Michael Apsey). Mavis cherished her role as a devoted wife and mother, finding immense joy in her grandchildren, Mason and Kensley.
Mavis graduated from Kadoka High School and held various jobs throughout her life, including positions at Greeley Carpet and Linoleum and Volmer’s Bakers, where she met Donald. She later worked as a para professional in the Aurora public school system, where her passion for nurturing young minds shone through.
A woman of many interests, Mavis loved gardening, sewing, and spending time outdoors. In her younger years, she delighted in country western dancing, often spending Saturday nights on the dance floor.
Mavis is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; her children, Bryon and Roberta; and her cherished grandchildren, Mason and Kensley. She was predeceased by her siblings Lavina, Richard, Neil, and Margaret, as well as her parents, Glenn and Marjorie McDonald.
A celebration of Mavis’s life will be held on October 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow at Olinger Hampden Mortuary 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231. Mavis May Kajfosz will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
