He was called back to be with the Lord a few hours later on February 23, 2020.
In Hebrew, the name Mickey means "a Gift from God.”
Mickey is, most certainly, a gift from God to his family.
He is the namesake of his maternal great-grandfather, Mickey Shriver, and of his paternal great-great-grandfather, Maximo Herrera.
When Justin & Lee Lee first learned that Mickey was to arrive on this earth some nine months later, the overwhelming emotion was that of great joy. Justin and Lee Lee merged their lives, with a desire to build an unbreakable family unit. They wanted to raise Mickey into a person of character, strength, fortitude, and with tenderness toward others.
In the womb, Mickey was an active little baby. There were no shortage of kicks, hiccups, dancing, and movement. It is an understatement to say that Mickey gave his mother, Lee Lee, a "run for her money."
In his short appearance on this earth, Mickey showed his parents a new depth of unconditional love. Not only do Justin & Lee Lee have unconditional love for their newborn son, but family, friends, and strangers, alike, rallied around his grieving parents. Revealed in the selfless, loving kindness of their actions, Mickey shined a light on the very best of the human spirit.
Mickey's life serves as a reminder of the preciousness in each moment we are given. Mickey reminds us to express our love often, to spend quality time with our family and loved ones, and to act boldly and courageously in our daily lives.
Mickey Maximus Cantrell will continue to have a profound impact on this earth. While he is deeply missed on this plane of existence, he is reunited with our Heavenly Father. One day, we will join Mickey in Heaven, where we eagerly await his warm embrace.
