Mildred Lillian (Vail) Dolph lived to the remarkable age of 102. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2020. She was born in Portland, Maine on December 19, 1917 to Thomas and Lillian May. She had two younger siblings, Eleanor and Morris, who have preceded her in death. Mildred married Malcolm D. Dolph on March 2, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nevada, who preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by her son, Stephen and wife, Susan; son, Michael; grandchildren, Jason and Laura; great grandchild, Cody and her many nieces and nephews. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Mildred started her many adventures with completing her education at the Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine in 1936 as an Au Pair. From there, she moved across country from Maine to California. This is where she met her future husband, Malcolm, and began her family life. The family of four made the move to Colorado in 1954. In Colorado she shared her skills in the kitchen for 12 years with Denver Public Schools. Malcolm and Mildred made the move to Philadelphia in 1972, where they spent 10 years cruising the coast visiting all the historical sites along the way. They made the move back to Colorado in 1982 to spend their retirement years with their family. The best memories of those years include spending the summer of 1984 in Alaska and living the snowbird life in Yuma, Arizona.
Mildred was a devoted mother who cherished spending time with her family on many camping and fishing trips. She was skilled at many crafts including sewing, often times making herself and the rest the family clothes from a simple pattern. There are many people in her life that have her crocheting and knitting in their homes to cherish. As many will know and agree, it wouldn’t be a hunting trip without a bag of her special chocolate chips cookies and several loaves of zucchini bread.
Mildred will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who lived a long and adventurous life.
