Born March 31, 1926
Milton was born, lived, and passed away all within a 2 mile radius. As a boy, he was raised and worked on his parents' farm off 58th and Ward Road. He attended Fremont Elementary and graduated from Arvada high school. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in World War 2 in the Philippines as an aircraft inspector / mechanic. The plane he was responsible for was called "My Ruthie."
After the war, he returned to Arvada where he met his loving wife, Shirley. They married and built their home in the early fifties on 58th Avenue, half a mile from his boyhood home. He raised his family of three children and resided at that home until moving to an assisted-living apartment in 2008, where he spent his remaining years.
Milton worked as a house painter with his father until he got a job with the US Postal Service and worked his way up to assistant postmaster of Arvada. He returned to carrying mail towards the end of his postal career.
In his retirement years, he and Shirley enjoyed traveling and visiting his children in Idaho. He also would enjoy trips to Central City, Las Vegas, and Laughlin to test lady luck. He enjoyed road trips with his wife and family and traveled throughout the West.
Milton was a man that believed in hard work and had unquestionable personal integrity. He could figure out how to build, fix, or make just about anything he put his mind to. He loved to paint landscapes, play the organ, and make wine to fulfill his artistic side.
He is preceded in death by his brother Winton, his parents Earl and Helena, and a daughter Catherine Lynn. He is survived by his wife Shirley, his two children Becky and Dave, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered.
