Oleen was preceded in death by her first husband, Dean Elwood Curry (12/26/1945) who died in WWII. She was also preceded in death by her second husband of 44 years, John Charles Miller (3/21/1996). She was preceded in death by five sisters, Exie Pearl. Leva Jane, Elsie Golden, Modeen, Pauline and three brothers William Otha, Elza Elmer and Nora Evatis. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Sean Curry.
Oleen was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Her family relocated to Rantoul, Illinois when she was about 4. There she began her education and built her bond with Jesus. While in her teens, she met and married Dean Elwood Curry. Together they had a son, Dean L. Curry.
Oleen was a mother and homemaker enjoying life with her family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a caring mother, a proud grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a joy to be around with a great sense of humor and a true love of life. The Nazarene church was the foundation and the focus of her life form her early youth until her passing. She was a good Christian woman.
She lived in many places during her life but finally settled in Colorado in the late 1960’s. There she built a life around her church and her profession as an insurance administrator with Safeco Insurance Company. As an active member of Denver First Church of the Nazarene, she immersed herself in volunteering and supporting the church. Through the church she enjoyed the companionship of many lifelong friends. In some ways she never fully recovered from the demise of her church.
Oleen is survived by her son, Dean L Curry (Tracie, deceased) of Union City, CA and her granddaughter Kelly Ortiz (Dannie) of Union City, CA. She also has two great granddaughters, Ronin and Raziel Ortiz and one great-great grandson Cyrus Ortiz.
Services and interment will be at Olinger Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., Denver, CO. on August 12, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
