Orville was born on 11/26/1934 in Valdez, Colorado to Antonia C. Veltri and Joe A.Torres. He attended area schools, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. where he proudly served from 1953 to 1957. After being honorably discharged he passed the United States Postal Service exam and continued his service to his country until 1992 when he retired. While in the postal service he was instrumental in establishing the National Mailhandlers Union and testifying before the United States Congress, Orville enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his vehicles and occasionally “taking a trip up the hill.” He was a proud self-sufficient man, working in his home on repair projects. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Orville is survived by his daughter Renee, son Orville Jr., granddaughter Antonia (Leonard) Valdez and great grandchildren Jaylina, Jayden James and Jayden Austin. He is also survived by sisters Florence Cordova, Mary C. Torres, brothers Chris (Jackie) Torres and Jerry (Irene) Torres, numerous nieces and nephews. The Torres family would like to express our gratitude and thanks to everyone who offered their condolences in our time of loss.
