Pauline Virginia Teal Schlieker

Pauline Virginia Teal (she went by Virginia most of her life) was born September 18, 1927 to Paul Hamilton Teal and Margaret Faith Shaffer Teal, in Charleston, MO. Her early years were spent in SE Missouri. Her Father’s occupation as County Extension Agent brought him back to his hometown of Arcadia, IN. This meant Virginia was now a “Hoosier”. She accepted the Lord and became a member of the Arcadia Christian Church. In 1945 there were no less than 11 Christian Churches in Hamilton County, Indiana alone. Virginia graduated from Jackson Central High School in 1945 and played trombone in the band, sang in the school choir and was a member of the Latin Club. She and her four sisters; Mary Ann, Judy, Margaret and Dorothy were always in demand to sing at the drop of a hat. They were known as the “Singing Teal Sisters”.

After a brief job at Dayton Air Force base, Virginia went one year each to Ball State Teacher’s College in Muncie, IN. and Johnson Bible College in Kimberling Heights, TN.

On June 11, 1950 Virginia got her MRS by marrying John F. Schlieker, Jr (Jack) and then a BA degree in May of 1952 when they graduated together from Lincoln Bible Institute later known as Lincoln Christian University.

Virginia furthered her education with a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Denver in 1963; and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1980. She utilized this knowledge by teaching first grade for 27 years with Denver Public Schools. She accomplished all this while rearing three boys and an always cantankerous Jack.

She ministered alongside Jack at Christian Churches in Ferguson, MO; Ault, CO; Eads, CO; and then Cherry Creek Christian Church in Denver; Gateway Christian Church in Aurora and the Agape Christian Church & Beacon Christian Church in Denver, CO.

Virginia was a talented musician playing piano, organ, auto harp & recorder. (She was affectionately known as the Queen of Recorders) Virginia taught in many Vacation Bible Schools & Church Camps. She directed several VBSs and was very active in the “Bible Bowl” movement.

Jack & Virginia moved into the house at 3040 S Dexter Way in Denver on July 4th, 1958. After 60 years and 28 days they moved to Riverpointe Senior Living Center where Virginia’s talents were seen and heard on the piano. Virginia also lived at Hilltop Reserve Senior Living and LifeCare Center of Aurora continuing to play the piano. Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ July 28, 2026.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, as well as her husband of 70 years, Jack.

Virginia is survived by her sons, John F. Schlieker III, Paul Hamilton Teal Schlieker (Peggy), Timothy F. Schlieker; and also granddaughters Carey Schlieker and Crystal (Randy) Henricks.
