

Richard was born on November 16, 1959, in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lopez and Ramona Casarez Lopez, and brother, Robert R. Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Rozina Fernandez Lopez, and by his sisters, Rebecca Lopez and Rachel Lopez Moran.
Richard served in the Air Force for over 25 years. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the Office of Natural Resources Revenue as a Privacy Officer.
In addition to his military career, Richard earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, a field dedicated to using data and logic to help organizations make effective decisions. After accomplishing this goal, he had more freedom to enjoy his life and love for the outdoors. He competed in marathons and triathlons. The weeks he was not training, he could be seen working on his Porsche. He was known in the neighborhood as “the guy who fixes bikes.” Everyone with a bike problem would stop by for a quick fix. He also loved to vacation in Hawaii with his wife Rozina.
Most of all, Richard loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed.
A Committal Service will be held at 10:15 am, on October 2, 2026
